Pakistan’s Academy Selection Committee is now receiving applications for filmmakers to submit their works for the Oscars’ Foreign Language Film category.

This will mark the fourth consecutive submission by the committee, which previously submitted Zinda Bhaag in 2013, Dukhtar in 2014, Moor in 2015 and Mah-e-Mir in 2016 to represent the best of Pakistani cinema.

The committee is chaired by two-time Academy Award and Emmy winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and includes Jerjess Seja, CEO ARY Digital Network; Nadeem Mandviwalla, managing director of Mandviwalla Entertainment; Asim Raza, film and television commercial director and producer; Momina Duraid, director and producer of Hum Films; Talat Hussain, actor; Sakina Samo, actress and director; Rizwan Beyg, fashion designer; Mohammad Hanif, author and journalist; and Ali Hamza, singer and founding member of the band Noori.

Eligible films should have been released in cinemas between October 1, 2016, and no later than September 30, 2017. The final date of submission is August 20 to be sent to the email address pakistancommittee@gmail.com. The 90th Academy Awards will be held on March 4, 2018.
