Waar-famed music video director-turned-filmmaker Bilal Lashari is fast wrapping up work on his second cinematic venture, which is said to be a reprise of the 1982 cult Lollywood classic of the same name, albeit with a twist.

While Lashari is all hush-hush about the project, and there is very little that we are let in on except for its ensemble cast — Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Fawad Khan, and Humaima Malik — those who have had a sneak peek into the rushes swear the film is worth a watch.

“It’s like our own Game of Thrones,” says a source. “You’ve to see it to believe how the film’s turned out to be!”

Lashari and his producer Ammara Hikmat (of Encyclomedia PR, that earlier managed Ali Zafar’s career) are said to have poured millions into the project. It is touted to be Pakistan’s biggest film ever.

The director-producer duo recently ran into a controversy when the son of the original film’s producer, Adnan Sarwar Bhatti, claimed that the intellectual copyrights of Maula Jatt hadn’t been bought. The next we knew, he had moved court. But Lashari and Hikmat came out victorious, and the camera on the film has started to roll again.
