Bengalis in the UAE will be able to watch the legendary Indian actor and poet Soumitra Chatterjee as he takes to the stage at the Shaikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School on September 16 with the Indian National Award winning singer and composer, Anupam Roy.

Chatterjee will share his film and theatre experiences, along with reciting some of his poems. The legend will also present his views on the noted laureate, the late Rabindranath Tagore, through poetry, songs and script.

A recipient of the India’s Padma Bhushan (the country’s third-highest civilian award) Chatterjee’s rich history to the creative arts has seen a career span six decades, both in films and on stage. But it is his collaborations with the Oscar-winning film director, the late Satyajit Ray, with whom he worked in 14 films, which really gave Chatterjee some of his best moments in cinema.

Meanwhile, Roy with his team of musicians, is expected to perform his trademark soft, romantic and soulful Bengali renditions on stage as well.
