Bollywood actor Sonu Sood wants to ship the Dubai Women’s Run concept back to India as a payback to the place that helped him thrive in his film career.

Sood, the celebrity male ambassador of the Dubai Women’s Run at Marasi Business Bay on Friday, was left highly impressed with the huge turn-out at the seventh edition of the annual event held exclusively for women participants.

“This is a huge movement and it is such an honour to be part of something so nice and enterprising. I have always supported and been a part of something like this. And especially when it is happening in a place like Dubai I would always be there as I always refer to this place as my second home merely because of all the best things in my life started from Dubai,” Sood told Gulf News tabloid!.

“Be it shooting for Jackie Chan’s Kung Fu Yoga or with Shah Rukh Khan for Happy New Year or doing a film like City of Life, all these important milestones of my career have started from Dubai. So now when we have an event like the Dubai Women’s Run it is certainly a huge opportunity for me to have something like this back home in India,” he added.

Sood, who last year launched his own production house named after his father Shakti Sagar, found much of his fame and acclaim starting in Dubai. “To see so many women participating in the run here means just a huge blessing for me. And I hope to see more people and women become part of this fit family so that one day we can have the whole of Dubai running for this cause,” he said.

“People are already talking about it and hopefully we will start something in India soon, may be in the next four to six months with an event in my hometown [Moga] in Punjab and one in New Delhi. I am already in talks with people that we should plan and take this forward.”

Sood is currently filming Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi with actress Kangana Ranaut.
