Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, who has come on board as a judge on singing reality show Indian Idol Junior, says she wanted to improve her singing as a child but she stopped.

“My music teacher taught me sa re ga ma pa [system to learn musical scales] but did not return after that and that is where my desire to sing stagnated,” Sinha said at the launch of the show.

When Sinha talked about her singing dreams, the show’s co-judge Vishal Dadlani added: “She is a good singer. We are doing a film titled Akira where Sonakshi is the ‘hero’. I promise you that she is going to sing in that film.”

“I love the song Sawaar Loon and would have definitely sung it for myself,” said Sinha, who is the daughter of actors Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha.

At the launch of the forthcoming show, which will bring talented children to the stage, Sinha even gave a sample of her singing skills. She did a little rap to the Yo Yo Honey Singh song Party All Night.

On the film front, the 27-year-old is currently filming Akira, which is an action-drama by director A.R. Murugadoss.
