The trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees was unveiled on Wednesday and it runs high on action, drama and romance.
In the little more than two-minute video, Khan can be seen in both daredevil fight scenes as well as romancing Pakistani actress Mahira Khan.
Director Rahul Dholakia’s Raees’ trailer begins with Khan saying: “Ammi jaan kehti thi koi dhandha chhota nahi hota, aur dhande se bada koi dharm nahi hota [Mother used to say that no business is small and there is no religion bigger than business]”.
The 51-year-old star plays Raees, a bootlegger. He is seen sporting eyes rimmed with kohl and a scruffy look for this role.
The film also stars acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays a stubborn officer.
“Aap mujhe kahin bhi transfer kar dijiye, Raees ko nahin chhodunga [transfer me anywhere you want, I will not leave Raees alone],” his character says.
Meanwhile, actress Mahira looks coy, and her chemistry with Khan is promising.
The trailer also showed a glimpse of actress Sunny Leone, who is seen grooving to a remake of 1980 chartbuster Laila O laila from Qurbaani. The original video featured Feroz Khan and Zeenat Amaan.
The film is said to be based on the life of a city-based gangster in the 1980s, Abdul Lateef Shaikh, who was killed in an encounter with the police. The film is set to release in India on January 25.
