Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt, whose Dear Zindagi is ready to release on November 24 in the UAE, says that after working with Shah Rukh Khan, she realised that they both share a similar thought process.

“I got to know Shah Rukh as a person during the shooting. Before this, I hardly spent time with him... Shooting with Shah Rukh Khan is a big deal, specially for me, as I have been in [the] industry for just four years, so I was bit nervous. But he is a very warm person. He goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. So after half day of shooting I was feeling quite relaxed,” said Bhatt of her co-star during the film’s promotional event in Mumbai on Thursday. “I can’t explain it in a word or line. It was a new experience working with Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Shinde for the first time.”

The actress admits that Dear Zindagi is a very different film and admires her director for it. “People have not seen or experienced this kind of story before. Its a story about life and people would definitely take something with them after watching this film,” said the Udta Punjab actress. “I loved working with [Shinde] and would love to work with her again. Her thinking is very precise and concepts are very clear. [She’s] a very real, clear person. I feel Gauri is a very unique voice of our film industry.

“When I read the script for the first time, I immediately connected with it as I had never looked at problems or life from that angle. That time Shah Rukh wasn’t onboard as she [Shinde] was about to approach him,” continued Bhatt. “So I feel that not just youth but every one will connect to the film. There is a family angle too and parents will also learn from it. So, I think friends, elders and everyone will connect to it.”

Bhatt, who is also known for her “not so great” general knowledge, feels that flaws should not be hidden away, and are necessary.

“Flaws have to be there. We have come up with something like ‘Flawsome’. It’s like, to have flaws is awesome. Like I have a flaw of speaking too fast, but I celebrate it instead of hiding away from it,” she said.

Bhatt also praised Deepika Padukone, who is shooting for Padmavati. She had visited the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s historic drama on Wednesday and said “it was lovely meeting with Sanjay Sir and Deepika. She was looking gorgeous.”
