With protesters and the media following him after his remarks on leaving India, the security detail of Bollywood star Aamir Khan, who is currently shooting for the movie Dangal in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, has been beefed up by Punjab police.

The actor was seen leaving his hotel and arriving at the site of the shoot, 125km from Chandigarh, in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena members held a protest near the actor’s hotel. They burnt Khan’s posters and disrupted traffic.

Khan has been embroiled in the controversy after he mentioned that his wife, Kiran Rao, had discussed leaving India due to the growing intolerance in the country.

Ludhiana Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rupinder Kaur said security around the actor, his hotel and shooting venue have been increased.

Khan’s film unit has also deployed private security also around him at all times. Filming will Ludhiana for a few more days.
