A notebook dedicated to the works of Satyajit Ray was launched on Saturday to mark the filmmaker’s 94th birth anniversary.

The notebook, launched by the Society for the Preservation of Satyajit Ray Archives and retail chain Starmark, showcases some of the iconic posters and booklet covers created by Ray, who was also an illustrator and graphic artist.

Titled Ray/Short Takes, the book is a tribute to Ray, an Academy Award-winner for lifetime achievement.

The foreword of the book is written by Ray’s son, film director Sandip.

The notebook also contains anecdotes about his films by Debasis Mukhopadhyay, a well-known Ray researcher.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid homage to Ray, who died in 1992.

Maharaja tomare selam” [Maharaj I salute you], she tweeted along with a photo of him.

He is best known for his Apu trilogy and Charulata.
