Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar is the latest celebrity to criticise actor Salman Khan for his ‘raped woman’ remarks.

The 50-year-old actor rode into another controversy after he compared himself with a raped woman in an interview when asked about the gruelling shooting schedule of his upcoming film Sultan.

The 43-year-old Dil Dhadakne Do helmer said it is up to Khan to decide whether he wants to apologise or not.

“Everybody has reacted in their own right. I think the comments shouldn’t have been made and people have said that. I can’t decide if he should apologies or shouldn’t, it is up to him,” Akhtar told reporters on the International Indian Film Academy Awards (Iifa) Rocks green carpet in Madrid.

Other Bollywood celebs including Kangana Ranaut, Anurag Kashyap and Sona Mohapatra have also condemned the actor’s remarks.

Akhtar, whose movie Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was shot in Spain, says she loves going back to the country because people there are as welcoming as in India.

“I am here every year. I love it. I think it is a beautiful country. I love the food. People are really similar to India. Spanish are like Punjabis I think, they are loud.”
