Actor Salman Khan, who will soon be seen in the film Tubelight, says filming for the Kabir Khan directorial was an emotional journey.

Khan stars alongside his brother Sohail Khan, who also plays his character’s brother in the film.

“I felt emotionally drained after shooting some of the scenes that narrate that my brother is no more,” Salman said.

“I am a limited performer and everybody knows that, but because Sohail was playing my brother, maybe that’s why I was feeling very emotional.”

“In fact, during the dubbing of the film also, being a grown up man, my tears were coming up... it was really bad,” he said, before going on to share a story from earlier.

The 51-year-old also talked about late actor Om Puri, who played a role in Tubelight, and actress Reema Lagoo who played his on-screen mother in key movies such as Hum Aapke Hain Kaun..! and Hum Saath Saath Hain.

“It is very sad. We lost VD [late actor Vinod Khanna] a few months ago, then I got to know that Reema ji is also no more with us, it is really sad. I think within the last couple of months, I lost some very close people,” said Salman.

Salman and Sohail also showed the trailer of their film to their mother Salma Khan on Wednesday.

“This time she will pray more as both of her sons are working on the film,” Salman said.

The actor was present at the trailer launch of the film along with Kabir Khan, Sohail and music director Pritam.

Tubelight is slated to release in the UAE on June 22.

Tubelight is based on the India-China war of 1962, and director Kabir Khan said the political issues in the movie are still relevant.

Asked the reason behind choosing the India-China war as a background to the film, Kabir said: “The political issues the story deals with are still relevant. In 1962, there was a border conflict between India and China. We are still dealing with some of them.”

Since Kabir is working with Salman on their third movie after Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, he said: “It is great that I have got a chance to work with one of the biggest superstars of the country but I also managed to do three very different films; that is important. Our relation has evolved with time and we understand each other better.”

On Bahubaali 2 breaking records at the box office worldwide and the pressure, Salman said: “I do not have much pressure but I am sure the producer has it. Every film has its destiny, so it is great that Bahubaali 2 did phenomenal at the box office. Let’s see, even our film has its destiny.”
