Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who has worked with actor Amitabh Bachchan on movies such as Sarkar, Nishabd and Department among others, says his relationship with the Bachchan family is very professional.
“I don’t share a close bond with them. In fact, they never call me for [a] Holi party or anything. My relationship with [the] Bachchan family is professional. Because me and Amit ji work a lot... [people] assume [we share a close bond],” Varma said.
Varma has been on a break from Bollywood and has lost touch with people from the industry.
“I don’t have friends, I don’t go to parties or socialise. I am not a social person. I don’t have any kind of relationship with anybody. As I am busy working all the time,” the 54-year-old director added.
“I don’t need friends. Industry survives on vision and not on friendship. Nobody really cares about anybody and it is part of human nature,” he added.
Varma said he talks to people only when he has to. “I never meet people for gossip or discuss the weather,” Varma said.
About his future work, Varma said: “I am making Sarkar 3 with Mr Bachchan. It’s on scripting stage. Then I have Rai with Vivek [Oberoi].”
