Actor Irrfan Khan says that a biopic about late composer R.D. Burman needs to be made.

Khan was talking during an appearance on reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for promotions of his upcoming film Madaari. When asked which actor would be suitable for the biopic, he said: “How can I say who will be suitable? But a biopic on him should definitely be made.”

“He has had a brilliant journey. [Whoever] will be that lucky person to play him and [whoever] will be that lucky director to present the story, it is a great thing,” he added.

Burman’s wife, singer Asha Bhosle, recently performed at a musical event to mark his 77th birth anniversary .

Filmmakers have reportedly been planning a biopic about him. Director-actor Farhan Akhtar mentioned that he would like to do it.

About Burman’s music, Khan said: “He brought a different kind of music... he had his own style. The masti [fun] in his songs lifts your heart up. His kind of music wasn’t there before him and neither after him. R.D was R.D.”

About his favourite Burman songs, Khan said: “I have a lot of my favourites, I really like songs from Sholay.”

Madaari releases in the UAE on July 14.
