Dubai: Legendary Indian actor Om Puri has landed in Dubai to shoot his latest Bollywood movie 'Darmiyaan,' it was confirmed by the star’s representatives on Sunday.
Puri, who has starred in commercial British, American and Indian films, as well as in independent and art films, is currently in the city to shoot the Bollywood blockbuster with other celebrities, such as Tisca Chopra, Feryna Wazheir (lead actress of the 2016 hit Airlift), and Dolly Ahluwalia, to name a few.
The acclaimed actor reached international fame after starring in a string of Hollywood films, such as East Is East in 1999, Wolf in 1994 alongside Jack Nicholson, and most recently, in the 2014 hit movie Hundred-Foot Journey opposite Helen Mirren.
In 2005, Puri was awarded with the honorary OBE for his contribution to the British film industry.
Movie buffs will also be thrilled to learn that Dubai’s latest attraction – Garden Glow Park (in Zabeel Park) – will be featured in the movie Darmiyaan, where shooting is expected to take place this week.
And while the actors take time off from their busy schedules, you might get lucky enough to spot the stars around town in various other iconic landmarks.

This is not the first time that Bollywood has filmed a major film in Dubai. Most recently, stars who visited the UAE include:
- Paresh Rawal and Sunil Shetty for upcoming Hindi comedy Hera Pheri 3.
- Akshay Kumar for war thriller Airlift in Ras Al Khaimah.
- John Abraham and Varun Dhawan Action for action-adventure film Dishoom.
- Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor for romantic comedy Ki and Ka.
