Nitya Mehra, whose portfolio includes both Hollywood and Bollywood films, says working on her directorial debut, Baar Baar Dekho, was a joyride.
She assisted Hollywood director Ang Lee in Life of Pi and Mira Nair in The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
Mehra — who has also worked with filmmaker/actor Farhan Akhtar, as an assistant director for a spate of movies such as Lakshya and Don: The Chase Begins, for over a decade — says it’s been a period of learning for her. “It’s been exciting, nerve wracking and a great learning. I had immense support from an extremely passionate crew and actors that pampered me and my vision for this film.
“But right now I feel like I’m running against time ... But we shall know when September 9 arrives. I think life is pretty much like a roller-coaster and this film has been one fabulous ride,” Mehra said in a statement.
The movie is also special to her because it is being produced by Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment as well as Dharma Productions.
Baar Baar Dekho is a romantic drama, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Katrina Kaif.
