Actor Amitabh Bachchan has started shooting for the third instalment of the crime film franchise, Sarkar.

The 74-year-old says the movie by filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is intriguing.

“An entirely new environ, an entirely new set up, even if the designs of the story and characters have been indulged well in the past... happens all the time. And yet, we never stop speaking about it,” Bachchan said on his blog.

“The director knows best and we leave it to him and his vision... that is really the best way out,” he added.

Bachchan played an integral part in the first two instalments of the series.

Sarkar, which released in 2005, is set in the world of Indian politics. Its sequel Sarkar Raj hit the screens in 2008.

Sarkar 3 will see Bachchan reprising his role as Subhash Nagre. The film will also star Rohini Hattangadi, Jackie Shroff, Manoj Bajpayee, Ronit Roy, Bharat Dabholkar and Yami Gautam.
