It seems 2016 will be a year of clashes at the box office. After an Eid release for Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Salman Khan film Sultan, fireworks at the Bollywood box office will be seen with a clash between Ranbir Kapoor’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Ajay Devgn’s directorial Shivaay on Diwali.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is directing Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, also starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma in the lead, announced the release of the film on Twitter.
“My next directorial film #Aedilhaimushkil starring Ranbir,Anushka and Aishwariya will release Diwali 2016...@AeDilHaiMushkil @foxstarhindi [sic],” he tweeted.
The film will go into production in October after Kapoor wraps up Jagga Jasoos and Rai Bachchan is done with Jazbaa.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil will be produced by Fox Star India and Dharma Productions.
The news that Johar and Devgn’s films would release on the same date started trending on Twitter with the hashtag #Diwali2016.
Meanwhile, Devgn is busy promoting his upcoming thriller Drishyam, which also stars Shriya Saran, Tabu and Rajat Kapoor. The film will release in the UAE on July 30.
