LONDON: British television personality and singer Cilla Black died on Sunday aged 72, according to national broadcaster the BBC.

“The singer and TV presenter Cilla Black has died aged 72 in Spain,” BBC reporter Joe Lynam said on Twitter.

Black was the host of hit TV shows Blind Date and Surprise Surprise in a career spanning over 50 years. She also had two number one singles.

A Spanish police spokeswoman confirmed today that Cilla had died at her Spanish home at her home in Estepona on the Costa del Sol, reports mirror.co.uk.

She said: “I can confirm the death of British national Priscilla White, aged 72.” Priscilla White is Black’s birth name.

“We are still awaiting autopsy results but everything at this stage is pointing towards her death being the result of natural causes.”
