Stanislasia Klein of Stella Cadente label gives her impression of women in Dubai .

Stanislasia Klein launched her label, Stella Cadente in 1991 in Paris. The designer, who is of Russian and Ukranian origin sees fashion as poetry, femininity and romance and her collections are characterised by soft colours, pearls, feathers and silk. Dressed in a colourful striped silk skirt, leather corset, shiny leggings and lots of colourful accessories, the designer showed off her funky, stylish look for next season. We spoke to her about her views on Dubai and her customers here. Excerpts:

Why did you name your label Stella Cadente?
I did not want to use my own name because it is difficult to pronounce. I chose this name because it means "Shooting Star" in Italian and can be understood by everyone. I like the concept and imagery of this phrase and am happy that Etoile also has a star in its logo.

What are your impressions of Dubai and the women here?
This is a city of energy and you can feel the energy as soon as you step out of the airport. I first came here three years ago and was astonished by everything I saw. I love the city and the people here. The women here are very special and refined in their tastes and know about luxury and appreciate it. I am happy that my collections have done well at Etoile for the last 10 years.

What is your signature style?
I like women to look fancy, colourful, bright and extraordinary. What I have in common with oriental women is a sense of detail and a love for accessories. Also, like them, I do not like everything to be revealed. I like to keep some things hidden so that you know it is there and can imagine it, but cannot see it.

Tell us about your spring-summer 2008 collection.
It begins with an ordinary Parisian woman who is fluffy, feminine and has lots of unfulfilled wishes. Later this woman metamorphoses into a princess with a golden crown, gold leggings and lots of shiny accessories. I have used silk, leather, cotton, lots of colours, animal prints and luxurious furs to create the two looks. The collection, to be shown on the ramp, will be available at Etoile in two weeks.

What are your views on Dubai Fashion 2008?
It is a great event. The venue and models are amazing and the organisation of the event is excellent. I am happy to be here.
