Buy: Pastels

While autumn was all about jewel tones, spring and summer is a veritable parlour of sugar-sweet ice cream shades.

As seen at Phillip Lim, Valentino, and most notably at Mulberry, whose collection was inspired by a summer day at the British seaside, delicious pastel tones are a must for your new-season wardrobe.

From sherbet lemon and candyfloss pink to baby blue and peppermint green, whether you wear it top to toe, or colour block with another delicate pastel shade, the look is undeniably girlie, super-pretty and oh-so easy to wear - and looks as good after dark as it does while the sun shines.

Box: Snakeskin

The fashion world was totally obsessed with snakeskin last season. Spotted on everything, from bags and heels to jumpsuits and jackets, python was king of the style jungle throughout autumn and winter, but has been put into hibernation for spring. But this is a classic animal print fave, so don't despair - just pack away now and wait for an autumnal re-awakening.

Buy: Big skirts

The midi skirt first emerged last spring and shows no sign of disappearing any time soon. Central to this season’s ladylike look, full, below-the-knee skirts are a key buy for the season, and look fabulously fresh and modern in prints and luxe fabrics.

A nipped-in waist and plenty of fabric in your midi is essential – this is a skirt that’s meant for swishing. Just pair with chunky sandals and a fab fitted top to nail the look in one. We love!

Box: Fetish

Marc Jacobs is never one to fade into the background, and his fetish-inspired collection for Louis Vuitton was one of the most copied looks of the season.

Naughty with a distinct military edge, and jam-packed with seriously powerful pieces, while this tough look is totally off the radar for spring (it’s all about lace, sugar-soft pastels and romantic femininity at LV right now), black leather, PVC and studs are a perennial fashion fave, and won’t be away for long.

Re-work your leather dresses and minis with a soft slouchy sweater for now if you can’t bear to be parted from them, but wear with flat ankle boots in muted tones for trans-seasonal cool.
