Riot of colours
There was an explosion of colour on the second night of Dubai Fashion 2008.
There was an explosion of colour on the second night of Dubai Fashion 2008.
Bucking the trends displayed by designers the previous night, which was mainly in black-and-white, models flaunted colourful dresses in bright reds, yellows and greens as they arrived at the Madinat Arena.
With no set dress code, the evening was all the more exciting as the audience were open to interpret the evening as they saw fit. There were styles and designs of all shapes and sizes, while perfectly-manicured waitresses served mocktails and juices and guests enjoyed the couture.
Tuesday's Dubai Fashion, which is a signature event of DSF, was hosted by Etoile's La Boutique, which is part of the Chaloub Group, and featured creations of famous designers like Alaia, Valentino, John Galliano and Ungaro and Christian Dior.
The 90-minute event also saw exquisite cuts and creations rolled up in expensive cars at the Mina A' Salam entrance of the arena.
Maria Rana, 28, from Lebanon said she had never seen so many beautiful dresses in one place at the same time.
"It is wonderful. You can't help but stare at some of the dresses. I think fashion shows are the only place where it's acceptable to stare at people because they know you are admiring the clothes they are wearing. I am really enjoying myself," she said.
Guests were also treated to a lavish three-course meal before the main event started at 10.30pm.
