covet!

Amanda Navai

Inspired by some of the UAE’s most stylish women, the handbag designer, known for her use of exotic skins, has created four new styles for the winter season, all with a charitable twist. Our favourite is the Diala (named for the glam Dubai TV presenter,Dh6,500), a chain-handed purse in rich navy. Supporting the United Nations World Food Programme, they will be sold exclusively at a pop-up shop at Bloomingdale’s-Dubai in the new year. Only 16 (numbered) bags have been produced, and each bag comes in four colours (navy, purple, electric blue and red).

Jigsaw

The London brand opened this week at The Dubai Mall with its modern British style — think tweeds and tartans, used in contemporary designs. They’re located opposite Victoria’s Secret and just down the road from another soon-to-open store we spotted: Milly, a Los-Angeles-chic label that’s got sunny smart casual brunch written all over it. (Milly is also due to open at Mirdiff City Centre).

Party heels

Looking for a hot heel to spice up your New Year’s Eve getup? We love these Marlenee ankle-straps from Steve Madden, and at Dh329, they should leave you plenty of change for your celebrations.

Spanx tights

As we write this, it’s a chilly 14 degrees, which means that this week is probably the only time you can reasonably wear tights in the UAE, and since there are few things more flattering on our holiday-food-indugled bodies than a bit of black hosiery, we suggest you grab a pair and party. Spanx have put their firming technology into patterned pantyhose this season — check out their styles from Dh115 at K-lynn, Boutique 1, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue and Harvey Nichols.
