Renowned designer Manish Malhotra brought the curtains down on the third day of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) by showcasing an elegant collection inspired by the popular Kashmiri flowers "gulaala" and "giltoor".
"When I was there (in Kashmir) for Rockstar and working on Nargis' (Fakhri) costume, Imtiaz Ali wanted us to shop. So we shopped a lot of stuff in Kashmir," Malhotra said after the show.
"He asked me, ‘why don't you do a collection on Kashmiri embroidery and work', and I felt it was a good idea, so I went for it," he added.
Malhotra's collection titled ‘Gulaala and Giltoor', includes Indian evening wear with intricate Kashmir embroidery and other thread work. It features colours of the giltoor like ivories, creams, off-whites and of the gulaala like burnt orange, red, deep pink, rust and brick hues.
