Punk

Punk and grunge are back in a big way for Autumn/ Winter, and the catwalks were awash with heavy-metal looks referencing some of the biggest musical movements
in modern history. But it’s not all about using classic dark shades to nail this look – both Gucci and House of Holland embodied muso-cool using punky pink in a variety of ways.

Rock chicks will love Gucci’s molten metal eye in shimmering tones of raspberry, swept up to the lid and under the lashes for a dazzling new take on a smoky eye,
offset against a muted matte lip, while House of Holland celebrated the rave generation with leftover pink glitter in the inner corners of the eye, to give that ‘partied all night’ version of prettiness.

Romantic

Monochromatic pink looks were key on the catwalks of Blumarine, Simone Rocha and Valentino, and are perfect for creating a soft, natural glow that’s wholly modern and totally wearable for every age. Keep tones soft and subtle, using gentle rose tints, pale washes of coral and peony shades or natural, pinkish nudes, and stick to a tonal palette that works together on eyes, lips and cheeks. The paler your skin, the softer your colour choice should be – you’re aiming for romantic heroine rather than badly made-up Barbie doll.

Modern

Update the classic red lip with a vivid fuchsia, as seen on the runways of Diane Von Furstenberg for an instant kick of city slick. Fresh, feminine and fun, a hot-pink pout looks fantastic when worn with little more than a slick of liquid liner and lashings of glossy black mascara. Use foundation only where you need it, keep blusher to a minimum, and frame your face with a pair of well-groomed brows – those dramatic colour-pop lips are the only thing that need to do the talking.

Futuristic

Combining to-die for dresses with space-age beauty, the Christian Dior catwalk brought together two dramatically different worlds in one dynamic fashion fusion. Offsetting a vibrant neon pink pout with a slash of shimmering silver liner, this look is all about clean simplicity, and looks incredible after dark. Use a bold pink tint on the centre of the lip, blending outwards to get the so-now petal pout effect, for
a look that’s undone but done – and seriously cool.
