She can't stop singing praises about Dubai, but there's another place that's close to fashion icon Anna Dello Russo's heart: India.

The creative consultant and editor-at-large at Vogue Japan is currently in the Emirates for high fashion retailer Symphony's first anniversary.

"I go to Kerala in India every year during Christmas to meet with my yoga teacher," she told tabloid! yesterday. "I love it."

Known for her quirky fashion sense and her successful blog, Dello Russo is a self-described "passionate fashionista".

She's often joked that she lost her husband because she didn't have enough space for him.

"When I got married, my husband said, ‘What are all these clothes? Where is the space for my clothes? So that's the reason we divorced right away," she said laughing, speaking in her thick Italian accent. "I am obsessed by fashion. It's my job, it's my passion. It's my way of communicating. I like to talk through clothes and provocate. It's my third language."

Dello Russo is also the favourite of the new generation of bloggers taking the fashion world by storm, and is often considered the opposite of her often-unsmiling and fearsome fashion editor peers. Yesterday, though, while meeting with her fans and interacting with the media at the Symphony store at The Dubai Mall, her highest praise was reserved for her host city.

"On [my way to India] I usually stop by Dubai and Doha. I love Dubai because I love Arabic exotica. I feel it matches my sensibilities. I like excess, gold, embroidery... I like everything that makes a splash. I feel comfortable in it."
