Robert Wan Pearl Bar

That pearl necklace you’ve been pairing with a twin-set just got pimped. If you’re looking for something beyond the ordinary, check out the Pearl Bar at Bloomingdale’s by “pearl emperor” Robert Wan, a specialist in Tahitian pearls, where you can create personalised jewellery pieces. There are more than 150 pearls and 50 coloured threads to choose from — colours range from peacock (a blue-green) to cherry red and gold. There are also limited edition pearl and gem settings, in gold with diamonds, rubies, or sapphires. If you’re really feeling flush, head to Tahiti, where Wan has a museum dedicated to the pearl.

Alexander Wang x H&M

Get up early, people: The latest H&M designer collaboration, by Alexander Wang (creative director of Balenciaga, as well as his own label), hits stores in the UAE on November 6. Wang is known for his sportswear-influenced designs, something that he’s incorporated heavily into this “performance wear wardrobe” made for the street, the gym and the club. For women, there are 38 pieces, plus accessories. You’ll find running tops and shorts, even sports bras, as well as a scuba dress. You can even get a Wang yoga mat, water bottle, towels and boxing gloves.

Beauty Connection Spa

Is this the world’s biggest spa? Well, they’ve broken one Guinness World Record (most nails varnished in one go) so why not one more: 30,000 square feet of day spa that just opened on Shaikh Zayed Road (above Lime Tree Cafe). Something of a beauty factory, it’s got something any last-minute beauty junkie will love: no appointments! They say you shouldn’t wait more than 10 minutes for your treatment. There are six colour-themed areas, a cafe and pop-up shop (starting with Taschen books on health and well-being, travel and fashion). Areas include: Red nail Avenue), Hair-a-cut (orange), facial room (green), hammam (Blue), i-Brows (purple), and the wax district (yellow). Call tollfree 800BCSPA.

Judith Hobby

If you don’t like what’s in the shops, design it yourself. That might not be something all of us can do, but it’s what Dubai-based Judith Hobby did. Now here, her autumn-winter collection is ready, with a focus on wearable dresses for the city’s working women, like the cowl-neck Aegina (Dh425) or the tailored Betty (Dh675). Her studio is in Studio City; delivery across the GCC starts in November at www.judithhobbyclothing.com.
