Chandigarh-based Prince Narula emerged as the winner of reality show Bigg Boss 9 on Saturday.

The grand finale saw some scintillating acts by celebrities including host Salman Khan and actress Katrina Kaif.

This is not the first time Narula has won a reality TV show: the 25-year-old has previously won MTV Roadies X2 and MTV Splitsvilla 8.

An emotional Narula was cheered by friends and family as Khan declared him the winner and handed him the “Bigg Boss” trophy and prize money of Rs3.5 million (Dh190,206), of which he has since donated Rs500,000 to Khan’s non-profit charitable organisation, Being Human.

Narula was competing in the grand finale against wild card entrant Rishabh Sinha, who made first runner-up; actress Mandana Karimi, who became the second runner-up; and model Rochelle Rao.

Some of the other contestants who were seen this year included Rimi Sen, Keith Sequeira, Priya Malik, Suyyash Rai, Gizele Thakral, Aman Verma and Roopal Tyagi.

The “Double Trouble” edition of Bigg Boss, which started in October last year, came to an end with a double dose of entertainment.

The grand finale had performances by all four finalists, who received personalised makeovers from celebrity stylist Hakim Alim.

Kaif was at the event to promote her forthcoming film, Fitoor, along with co-star Aditya Roy Kapoor.

An Indian version of international series Celebrity Big Brother, Bigg Boss 9 saw celebrity contestants grounded under one roof with 24-hour surveillance and no luxuries.

Actor Arjun Kapoor, who will soon be making his television debut as the host of Khatron Ke Khiladi — Kabhi Peeda Kabhi Keeda, shared a glimpse of the forthcoming stunt-based reality show.

The four finalists also had a face-off against four Khatron Ke Khiladi 7 contestants: Sana Saeed, Sidharth Shukla, Raghav Juyal and Mahii Vij.

Besides those stellar acts, Comedy Night Bachao stars Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh performed, as did Mouni Roy and child artist Siddarth Nigam.

The biggest high-point of the season was when Shah Rukh Khan and Khan came together for the show.
