Nicole Kidman will star in and executive produce HBO’s forthcoming David E. Kelley limited series The Undoing, the network announced on Monday.

The Undoing, based on the book You Should Have Known by Jean Hanff Korelitz, will tell the story of Grace Sachs, a successful therapist who lives with her husband and young son. Grace must dismantle her life and start anew after “a chain of terrible revelations,” a missing husband and a violent murder.

Kelley will write and serve as showrunner for the series. Executive producers will be Kelley, Kidman, Per Saari from Blossom Films and Bruna Papandrea from Made Up Stories. A search for a director is underway, HBO said.

“David has created another propulsive series with a fascinating, complicated female role at its centre,” Kidman said in a statement. “I’m excited and honoured to continue collaborating with HBO and David E. Kelley.”

Kidman starred in HBO’s Big Little Lies, which Kelley also created. One of her Lies co-stars, Reese Witherspoon, announced on Monday that she was executive producing and starring in a limited Hulu series, Little Fires Everywhere.
