Dubai:  A 20,000 square foot facility for dogs and cats with a park, splash pool, hydrotherapy pools, bathhouse, playroom, daycare and weekly classes will open on October 3.

Located in Dubai Investment Park, Paws Pet Planet will be the first of its kind in the region. The creche/recreation/training centre has been created exclusively for dogs and cats by animal behaviourist Michelle Creasy who lives with five Dobermans and three cats in her Barsha home. Paws Pet Planet will have weekly classes for obedience, puppy socialisation, agility and flyball with prices ranging from Dh400 to Dh500 for a four- to six-week course.

For owners who aren't mobile, an additional Dh40 will ensure your dog gets picked up and dropped off at home in VIP style, complete with a chew toy to occupy him during what may be a long drive to the centre.

Hydrotherapy

The hydrotherapy pools, starting from November, will be ideal for older and overweight dogs, or those with joint/hip problems, said Creasy. "We've noticed a need for a centre such as this for the last 14 years and never understood how there can be so many dog owners here but hardly any recreation facilities for them."

PPP features 7,000 square feet of outdoor park area for dogs to frolic off-leash. "We divided the park into two areas," said Creasy. "The larger/more aggressive dogs in one half and the smaller or more timid dogs in another. "

The indoor area (7,000 sq ft) is temperature controlled and the playroom features agility games such as bridges and tunnels.
