Imtiaz Ali’s latest movie, Tamasha, out in the UAE now, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, has earned Rs244 million (Dh13 million) in the two days of its release.

According to a statement by the film’s makers, the opening day collection of the movie in India amounted to Rs. 108 million; it collected Rs131 million on day two.

Meanwhile, the estimated overseas gross box-office collection figure until Saturday night was $2.8 million (Dh10 million).

Presented by UTV Motion pictures and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Tamasha is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Tamasha centres around two people who meet on holiday and fall in love, even though they use false names and identities. When they stumble across one another years later, the woman finds that the hero has undergone a change and she helps him rediscover who he is.

For Singh, the success of the film comes as a respite after three successive failures. Padukone will next be seen in Bajirao Mastani, out in the UAE on December 17.
