Pakistani blockbuster Na Maloom Afraad, a comedy about three men on a quest to get rich quick, swept all the major awards including best film, best actor and best director at the Lux Style Awards, held at Karachi Expo Centre on September 29.

On a night that saw fashion and film come together, actor Javed Shaikh took home the best actor award for his role in Na Maloom Afraad, while director Nabeel Qureshi stood tall as he accepted the best director award.

The comedy, which was nominated in seven categories this year, also bagged the movie of the year award. Since Shaikh was in the US at the time of the awards ceremony, his son Shahzad Shaikh accepted the trophy on his behalf.

The crew of Dukhtar, which screened at the Dubai International Film Festival last year and was Pakistan’s official entry in the best foreign language film category at the 2015 Oscars, also had a reason to celebrate thanks to 16-year-old Saleha Aref winning the best actress award.

The film, which touched upon honour crimes and child marriages, chronicled the journey of a mother trying to shield her 10-year-old, played by Aref, from marrying an old tribal leader.

The night also belonged to Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, who hosted the awards ceremony with jibes at the scandals that rocked the film industry this year.

The pair got the show on the road with ease and plenty of humour.

Khan, the actor who won over Bollywood fans with Khoobsurat, got ample support from performers such as actor and singer Ali Zafar and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

Zafar won the audience over by performing his hit song Rockstar, while Khan belted out hits including Tere Mast Do Nain and Zaroori Tha.

Meanwhile, television actors Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ayeza Khan reaped rewards for their roles in the romantic drama Pyarey Afzal. They won best actor (male and female) titles along with best drama of the year award.

Here’s a look at the action from that star-studded night.
