The Plot: A modern take on the classic fairy tale, Beauty And The Beast, Beastly tells the story of a selfproclaimed ‘handsome, intelligent and rich’ student, Kyle Kingson (Pettyfer), who has an ego the size of a small country. On a particularly cruel streak Kyle humiliates a Goth witch, Kendra (Olsen), who retaliates by casting a spell on him, making him as ugly on the outside as he is inside.

He soon learns that the curse can be reversed, but only if he can find someone to love him for who he is, not what he looks like, and all in one year. Repulsed by his son’s altered appearance, Kyle’s cruel father banishes him to an apartment in Brooklyn where he has nothing but a blind tutor (Harris) and a kind house keeper (Lisa Gay Hamilton) for company.

But then he happens to chance upon a desperate drug addict, who needs to find somewhere for his beautiful daughter, Lindy (Hudgens), to live, and Kyle offers to take her in, heading on a mission to make her fall in love with him for the person he truly is. An easy-watch romance that ticks all the teen boxes.
