Ibn Battuta Mall will no longer house the only IMAX screen in Dubai.
According to a press release, Novo Cinemas is introducing three new IMAX-equipped locations: IMG Worlds of Adventure (an upcoming indoor theme park, set to be the biggest in the world), Wafi Mall, and Dubai Festival City later this year.
IMG is expected early 2016, while Wafi opens in late 2016.
“Movie-goers deserve an experience that engages their senses and emotions, portraying larger-than-life characters with such precision that they are no longer just watching a movie — they are a part of it,” said Debbie Stanford-Kristiansen, CEO of Novo Cinemas.
“We believe in investing in the latest and best technology, and IMAX’s breakthrough laser system is a significant leap forward. For this reason, we will be adding IMAX with laser in all our new build projects, without exception.”
IMAX, an acronym of “image maximum”, is a technology that allows for greater size and resolution in film, resulting in higher quality, sharper imaging and exceptional clarity, as well as an immersive audio-visual experience.
