NBA fans have long wondered who would win in a game of one-on-one: Michael Jordan in his prime or LeBron James?
We’ll never know the answer to that question (for the record, both players have said they’d win). But we may soon know who’d be the champ at the box office.
Justin Lin, director of Fast & Furious 6 and the upcoming Star Trek Beyond, is in talks to direct James in Space Jam 2, the sequel to Jordan’s 1996 live action/animated hit, The Los Angeles Times has confirmed.
Long rumoured as a vehicle for the Cleveland Cavaliers star — who showed off his comedy chops opposite Amy Schumer and Bill Hader in last year’s Trainwreck — the project is still in the early stages and deals have not been finalised, according to a source familiar with the project. The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
The original Space Jam, which united Jordan with Bugs Bunny and other Looney Tunes cartoon characters in a basketball game against aliens, grossed $230 million (Dh844.5 million) worldwide. Its soundtrack, propelled by the R. Kelly single I Believe I Can Fly, went platinum six times over.
Screenwriter Andrew Dodge is working on the “Space Jam 2” screenplay.
