- “Huge thanks to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the Russian hackers that made our nominations possible.” — Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ tweet on recognition for her and her comedy series Veep.
- “It’s our jobs as filmmakers, artists and storytellers to give meaning to the things going around us and to comment on that through images, words, pictures and music. So I don’t see how it couldn’t be influenced by our politics in this country right now because it’s so heated.” — Rich Moore, who with Byron Howard directed animated movie nominee Zootopia, which tackled bias and stereotyping through animal characters.
- “Thank you to the HFPA for always recognising new and unbelievable talent regardless of colour or culture. ... I feel beyond blessed and humbled to have been one of their discoveries. It’s 10pm in Thailand and I think we are going out for a celebratory beer and tacos. Yup. I said tacos in Thailand, wish me luck!” — Gina Rodriguez on her nomination for Jane the Virgin.

A brave new world, and welcome to it.” — Jeffrey Tambor, nominated for Transparent, on a movie set discussion on Monday about the range of nominees.
- “My phone rang around 5am and my publicist’s number came up. I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s in jail. I’ll have to bail him out.’ But he told me I was nominated and I said, ‘For what?’ ..... I’m thrilled by it. I wasn’t expecting it.” — Nick Nolte on how he learned of his nod for Graves.
