Emirati film Going to Heaven, by award-winning director Saeed Salmeen Al Murry, will release across the UAE on April 28. Co-produced by Image Nation Abu Dhabi, the film tells the story of Sultan, an 11-year-old boy who escapes his cruel stepmother and sets out on a journey with a friend Saud to find his maternal grandmother, who is estranged from the family.

The film, which premiered at the Dubai International Film Festival 2015, picked up the Muhr Emirati Award for best feature film.

“I am immensely proud of Going to Heaven; it is a beautiful story that highlights an extremely important issue in the Emirati family scene — the ties between young and older members of the family. I’m looking forward to being able to show the rich landscape of the UAE on the big screen,” said Al Murry.

The film was shot across the UAE in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Fujairah and Dubai, and stars debutants and real-life brothers Ahmad Ebrahim Al Za’abi, 14, and Jumma Ebrahim Al Za’abi, 12.
