Five Oscar-nominated films will show at DIFF365@Vox from March 1-7, all in their original formats. Lady Bird, Loveless, The Square, Get Out and Blade Runner 2049 will screen daily at the dedicated theatre Cinema 9 in Mall of the Emirates.

Lady Bird, nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Actress in a Leading Role for Saoirse Ronan, Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Laurie Metcalf and Best Director for Greta Gerwig, is a coming-of-age comedy about a teenager who yearns to leave her hometown.

Meanwhile, The Square, winner of the Palme D’Or at Cannes Film Festival last year and in the running for Best Foreign Language Film, is a satirical look at the postmodern art world.

Get Out, a horror film about modern day racism and slavery, is nominated for Best Screenplay, Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role for Daniel Kaluuya and Best Director for Jordan Peele.

Loveless (Nelyubov) is a Russian film nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. The dramatic film centres around a vicious divorce.

Finally, Blade Runner 2049, nominated for Cinematography, Production Design, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing and Visual Effects, is a follow-up on the cult-classic sci-fi film Blade Runner.
