‘Baahubali 2’: Meet the characters

Shivudu alias Mahendra Bahubali, Amarendra Bahubali (Played by Prabhas)

Found as an infant, the heir to Mahishmati kingdom is raised as Shivudu by a tribal couple. He realises his roots after crossing the hill of mighty waterfalls. He comes to know about how his father (played by Prabhas) was betrayed by his trusted general Kattappa at the behest of the evil duo Bhallaladeva and Bijjaladeva and his mother Devasena held captive by Bhallaladeva for spurning him.

Bhallaldeva (Played by Rana Daggubati)

Bhalla is Amarendra Bahubali’s cousin. He is as strong as he is evil. He could knock out a gigantic buffalo with a single blow. He too aspires to marry Devasena. But having been rejected, he nurses ill-will. Then he also has the evil mind to usurp the throne of Mahishmati. He gets Bahubali killed in a battle and has Devasena imprisoned.

Devasena (Played by Anushka Shetty)

The beautiful princess is the bone of contention between Amarendra Bahubali and Bhallaladeva. She is imprisoned after Bahubali’s death. All through the years of her imprisonment she believes her separated infant son would come back and take her menacing tormentor to task and avenge his father’s death.

Avanthika (Played by Tamannaah)

Avanthika is a guerrilla group member who tries hard to rescue princess Devasena from the clutches of the cruel king Bhallaladeva. She falls in love with Shivudu, who follows her to the Mahishmati Kingdom beguiled by her beautiful looks.

Sivagami (Played by Ramya Krishna)

The ruthless, strong and shrewd queen has her mind made up on who should be the ruler of Mahishmati. She chooses the valiant, compassionate and handsome Amarendra thus antagonising her husband Bijjaladeva (Nasser) and her son Bhallaladeva. After the king is slain in a battle, Sivagmai escapes with the infant to rescue from the father-son duo’s plant to get him killed.

Kattappa (Played by Sathyarj)

The trusted royal slave of Amarendra Bahubali is a ferocious warrior. But he betrays his master and kills him, which has led to a raging question ‘Why did Kattappa kill Bahubali?’

He finds out that the rustic Shivudu is Mahendra Bahubali, the son of the late king.

Bijjaladeva (Played by Nassar)

He is the elder brother of Amarendra Bahubali’s father King Vikrama. This handicapped man is the brain behind poisoning the mind of his son Bhallaladeva. His wife Sivagami fights all odds to rescue Amarendra’s infant son Mahendra from their evil clutches.
