2. The most famous of the Jacksons, Michael, will be honoured during the show, which is part of the Unity Tour. Friends who have seen the show already say that Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito perform a bunch of their little brother’s songs, including Rock With You and Wanna Be Starting Something.

Kaifi Aur Main
Hindi-speaking theatre buffs must be sure to book a seat for this interesting play, which is a celebration of renowned Urdu poet and lyricist Kaifi Azmi’s life, which stars his own family. We see his life and works through the eyes of his wife, theatre actress Shaukat Kaifi, his daughter Shabana Azmi (who is one of Team Scene's favourite actresses of all time) and his son-in-law, who wrote it, Javed Akhtar. This personal element takes this play to another level, and the touching story traces Kaifi’s childhood in Mijwan, his marriage of 55 years and his social and cultural activism. Oh, and the wonderful voice of Jaswinder Singh is employed to sing some of Kaifi’s poems with the support of a live orchestra: cue an emotional night.

Loy Krathong in Thiptara
Our favourite Thai restaurant in the city, Thiptara – seriously, the food here is next level – is hosting a dinner next week to celebrate the Loy Krathong festival. The festival of lights is held on the night of the full moon of the twelfth lunar month. It is perhaps the most picturesque celebration in the always-colourful Thailand, as it’s marked by people placing floating candles and parcels on to lakes and the sea and releasing floating lanterns into the air. And, after you eat a four-course menu at Thiptara – which stars classics like Tom yum soup, Spiced green mango and Prawns in red curry, you’ll be given a Krathong flower to place in the pool yourself (photo opp!).

The Modern Bride show
This is a bridal show with a difference as, rather than being stuck in a stuffy conference centre, you can check out the fab vendors (cake tastings!) while strolling along the beach. That’s right, the shoreline of Dubai Ladies Club will be packed with wedding vendors, and there’ll also be a raffle, fashion shows and photo booths. Fun!

A Latin dance show: Tripudium
Champion Latin dance company Ballet Nacional el Firulete has put together a show that features complex moves, special effects and dazzling costumes. Traversing genres, including salsa, acrobatics and aerial silk routines, the vision of choreographer Eider Rua is something dance fans can’t miss. So go on, get off your couch, turn off So You Think You Can Dance, and watch the real stuff.
