National Women’s Health conference in capital

Over 1,000 experts at third edition of event

Abu Dhabi:

The third National Women’s Health Conference concluded yesterday (Saturday) in Abu Dhabi after two days of discussions on key issues in female health and disease management and prevention.

Organised by Al Rahba Hospital, a member of SEHA’s Health System managed by Johns Hopkins, the two-day event was attended by around 1,000 experts and health-care professionals from health-care providers, universities and public sector bodies.

The final day of the conference saw a discussion by pharmacist Dr Lana Hammad on drug-induced health concerns for women, followed by a presentation by Dr Laila A. Wareth on thyroid diseases during pregnancy.

Dr Nooshin Bazargani spoke on cardiovascular diseases, whileMouza Al Suwaidi discussed skin diseases in pregnancy.

Conference proceedings also included discussions on bone disease osteoporosis by Dr Nellie Boma, Chief Medical Officer of Al Rahba Hospital, and why women should care about this silent disease.

Closing the conference Dr Bom said: “The discussions and debates this conference has facilitated play a prominent role in highlighting, identifying and dealing with issues in female health, leading to social and economic benefits and an increase in the quality of life.”

The conference concluded with a ceremony where 41st UAE National Day souvenirs were given to participants and delegates.
