Spanish tenor Jose Carerras has added a second Dubai date to his final world tour, A Life in Music, after his first concert here sold out.
Carerras, originally scheduled to perform on October 8 at Dubai Opera — a new entertainment venue in the heart of Downtown — will now hold an additional concert on October 4.
“Having worked with Jose Carreras on many occasions in the past I am so pleased, not only that we will have an incredible sold-out show on the 8th October, but that people in Dubai, who weren’t able to get tickets, have another opportunity to hear one of the world’s greatest-ever tenors perform live on his final world tour,” said Jasper Hope, chief executive at Dubai Opera, in a press release.
Carreras first gained popularity as a member of The Three Tenors — a 1990s trio made up of Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti.
He performed in Dubai in 2006 and in Abu Dhabi in 2013.
Domingo performs at the opening night of the opera on August 31, which is also sold out.
Tickets for Carerras’ October 4 show begin at Dh450, through dubaiopera.com.
