Abu Dhabi: The 15th edition of Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex) will be held from September 12 to 16 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) and is expected to be the biggest in the event’s history, the organisers announced on Monday.
The region’s largest hunting and equestrian will span more than 43,000 square metres and will see participation from more than 600 companies from 40 countries. The event will provide visitors with an opportunity to explore the authentic Emirati heritage in Abu Dhabi and learn about hunting skills and equipment, watersports, outdoor sports and equestrian activities. There will also be camel auctions, horse auctions, beauty contests for Arabian salukis, performances by K9 police dogs, horse performances in cooperation with the Dhabian Equestrian Club, participation from the Emirates Park Zoo as well as live performances.
Adihex 2017 will also host archery performances in cooperation with a number of international exhibitors, notably Archery Attack and Archery Logistics.
Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Falconer’s Club, and organised by the Emirates Falconer’s Club, in cooperation with the Cultural Programs and Heritage Festivals Committee — Abu Dhabi, the new edition is also supported by Shaikh Mansoor Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival and the Zawya Oasis.
“The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (Adihex) is recognised as one of the major cultural events in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates. Over the years, Adihex has turned into a comprehensive Arab Gulf gathering that specialises in sustainable hunting,” said Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, Director of Adihex 2017.
“Twenty three per cent of all exhibitors will be taking part in Adihex for the first time. We are also expecting the exciting activities and events to attract more than 100,000 visitors over five days,” said Al Qubaisi.
“The new edition is set to attract all those interested in falconry, equestrian activities, hunting weapons and safari tours. Adihex 2017 will also witness a redistribution of sections to facilitate the movement of visitors and stimulate sales,” Al Qubaisi added.
The event is also expected to have an exhibition of art and live graffiti to underscore the major role art plays in highlighting the elements of heritage on the cultural scene.
