Australia crash to six-wicket defeat in the Mohali Test to take unbeatable lead

Dubai: India inflicted their third consecutive defeat over  Australia to regain the Border-Gavaskar trophy. In the Mohali Test, India registerd a six-wicket victory over Australia to take an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the four match Test series.

With three overs to go and nine runs to win,  skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni hit Mitchell Stac’s first three deliveries for boundaries to win the match in style.

Earlier,  Australia was  bowled out for 223 in the second innings with Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar taking three wickets each.  India raced to the target with openers Murali Vijay (26) and Cheteshwar Pujara (28) putting on 42 runs. One drop Virat Kohli chipped in with  34 runs . Though Sachin  Tendulkar got run out for 21, Jadeja and Dhoni ensured the victory.

Shikhar Dhawan,  who hit 187 runs in India’s first innings, was adjudged the Man of the Match.
