Sharjah: The Sharjah Media Corporation (SMC) has announced its line-up of programmes that will air on its TV and radio channels.

The programmes that will be shown on Sharjah TV, Sharqiya from Kalba, and Sharjah Radio will be in line with Sharjah’s position as the Islamic Cultural Capital for 2014, announced Shaikh Sultan Bin Ahmad Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Media Corporation, at a press conference.

Keeping a special focus on enhancing public awareness on the significance of Ramadan, SMC will also promote the UAE community’s values, traditions and customs through its selection of shows.

“The selection was made by highly experienced professionals from different channels, who used exerted great efforts in choosing the programmes that meet the public interest and adhere to community culture and traditions,” said Dr Khalid Omar Al Midfa, Director-General of Sharjah Media Corporation.

Sharjah TV will air several spiritual shows such as Prophet Led Battles and Clem Allah (the Prophet who Talks to Allah). It will also air some of the most popular drama shows such as ‘Bab Al Hara’ and the GCC series Thouraiya.

Sharqiya from Kalba TV channel will air Muslim Scientists, a show which presents the major achievements of prominent Muslim scientists in a simplified style. This year, however, the popular TV show Khawater (Thoughts) by Ahmad Al Shugairi will not be aired during Ramadan.

Abeer Salim Al Shawi, Sharjah Radio Programmes Manager, also announced that Sharjah Radio will only be airing local talk shows during Ramadan. These include Khitma Ramadaniya, prepared by Sherzad Abdul Rahman, and Direct Line (Al Khat Al Mubashar), among others. Sharjah Radio will also host the Daily Quiz titled Ala Kad Elmak (according to your knowledge) — a programme presented by Abdullah Al Hosani that hosts daily competitions for Sharjah Government’s employees.
