Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) has announced the winners of the best decorated car competition conducted to mark the UAE's 39th National Day.

The competition was organised on the sidelines of ADACH's three-day celebrations of National Day. A committee chose 12 cars and a motorcycle out of 400 vehicles gathered from all emirates at the celebration location on the Abu Dhabi Corniche from Dec-ember 2-4.

"This year, many artistically decorated cars participated in the competition," said Abdullah Al Ameri, Director of Culture and Arts at ADACH.

"Car owners showed high creativity in celebrating this dear occasion. Most of them posted the pictures of Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the UAE federation, in addition to pictures of the Rulers of the seven emirates and the UAE flag," he said.

"Some creatively wrote poems expressing their love for the country on their cars. Thus we awarded 12 cars instead of ten as was decided before," Al Ameri said.

Car owners decorated their vehicles in unique ways, such as by putting a coloured canvas on the car, coloured lighting in addition to the usual decoration methods used. These included teddy bears, flowers, balloons, coloured ribbons and feathers.
