Today (Thursday) is the FANtastic Fan Day! at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Fans have come dressed in their most outrageous fun fan outfits, as the best dressed could win tickets for the finals.

Cameras are scanning the crowds at every match. The fan who gets the loudest cheer for their outfit will win a weekend stay for two at a hotel nearby and two tickets to the finals.

German Philipp Kohlschreiber defeated Tunisian Malek Jaziri 6/2 6/3 in the first match of the day.

Excited that Kohlschreiber is in to the semi-finals, the enthusiasm of the fans went down after Mikhail Youzhny retired because of an injury and his match with Novak Djokovic was called off for the day.

Fans eagerly gathered at 5pm to watch Jo Wilfried Tsonga from France play against  Czech Tomas Berdych, but were left disappointed as the match was postponed to 7pm.

Angeline Ross who flew in from Holland to watch Djokovic said: "I was so looking forward to seeing Novak play today. Even though I was sure he would make it to the semi-finals, in a way, I am happy that he got a day off to rest, as Youzhny retired and Novak made it the the semis directly. However, now that I'm here I'll stay to watch Roger Fedrer play the last quaterfinal tonight."

India's Mahesh Bhupathi and Uzbek Denis Istomi took on to the centre court at 5pm to play doubles against India's Rohan Bopanna and Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi. Bopanna and Qureshi went on to win.

And right now, Berdych has taken the first set against Tsonga…
