Music lovers, Dubai International Film Festival has something for you, too. Kicking off the 10th edition of the week-long fest will be Egyptian singer Amr Diab with a concert in Burj Park on December 6.

From 5pm, there will be a selection of bands performing with a backdrop of the Burj Khalifa. Diab is set to headline the event. To ensure the crowd can experience the best of both worlds, a live feed from the opening night red carpet of Diff, taking place at Madinat Jumeirah, will be screened at the event.

Diab, one of the biggest pop stars in the region, is the best-selling Middle Eastern singer of all time, with 25 albums and a global reach that extends beyond the Arab world. He’s no stranger to the emirate, having participated in the Formula One concert weekend on Yas Island last month.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of Diff’s 10th anniversary and I’m really looking forward to performing to the audiences in Dubai to celebrate this landmark event,” he said.

Tickets for the Friday night concert, which organisers say will become available through Virgin ticketing closer to the date of the event, will start at a hefty Dhs350. However, beginning on the following night and going right through to December 14, there will be free screenings of Diff movies at the Park as part of the returning “Screen on the Green” series.

This year, films from the Arab world and beyond are promised. In a press release announcing the outdoor screenings, Abdul Hamid Juma, Diff Chairman, said their vision since 2004 has always been to bring the best new films to the UAE.

“This year our programme is exceptional and we look forward to presenting the wide-ranging and eclectic mix of features, documentaries and shorts from all over the globe that will truly capture the hearts and minds of our audiences at the 10th Dubai International Film Festival,” he said.
