Abu Dhabi: Motorsport fans have been urged not to miss a ‘historic moment’ by buying a ticket for the 2014 Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit later this month.

Fewer than 2,500 tickets remain for the final grand prix of the season — and championship decider — bosses at Yas Marina reported on Monday.

The grand prix, which takes place between November 21 and 23, will decide a thrilling title battle between Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, with the Briton leading the German by 17 points.

With double points on offer for the first time — the winner will get 50 points as opposed to the normal 25 — Rosberg could overhaul Hamilton if he wins and the Briton finishes below second.

“There’s still all to play for. I just need to keep this going now,” said Rosberg, following his victory in Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix, at which Hamilton finished second.

Al Tareq Al Ameri, Chief Executive Officer of Yas Marina Circuit, added: “Anyone hoping to come and join us for this historic moment in Abu Dhabi should act quickly to ensure they don’t miss out on their chance to buy a ticket.

“With the drivers’ championship coming down to Yas Marina Circuit, demand is at its peak. People have been aware that we have had the largest ticket allocation ever for the event in Abu Dhabi this year, with a total capacity of 60,000.

“But, with less than two weeks to go, we’re down to fewer than 2,500 tickets. Don’t miss out on your chance to enjoy this fantastic racing and entertainment spectacle.”

Aside from witnessing the pulsating denouement to the Formula One season, fans could also see the final act in Jenson Button’s stellar career.

The McLaren driver, who won the 2009 world title, is reportedly set to quit the sport and be replaced at his team by Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.

In addition to the motorsport action, Abu Dhabi F1 tickets for all sections guarantee the holder a chance to watch superstar DJ Armin Van Buuren, R & B giant Pharrell Williams and legendary live performers The Who at the after-race concerts.

Egyptian movie star Tamer Hosny, celebrity singer and award-winning Lebanese actress Carole Samaha, Emirati singer Faiz Al Saeed and Palestinian Mohammed Assaf of ‘Arab Idol’ fame have also been confirmed to entertain racegoers at the Du Arena on November 20.
