No loan, still paying

I am writing to air my concerns and seek assistance from Union National Bank (UNB).

The bank approached me and offered to buy out my loan from another bank at a better interest rate, and promised to give me more cash. However, two moths down the line, they have not released the money.

My salary has been transferred into my UNB account twice and moreover, I have paid the monthly instalment two times. They claim that they made a mistake, since I was not eligible for the loan. My argument, however, is why I should be the one to suffer when it is clearly their mistake?

They have frozen my account and I am paying for a loan that I don’t have. I have followed this up every day for two months, with no success. After lodging a complaint, their customer care claimed that they are still waiting for my salary transfer letter, which I gave them a long time ago.

Please assist me in this matter.

From Mr Frederick Magana Echesa

Editor’s note: The complaint was forwarded to Union National Bank for comments. However, its management did not respond.

Mr Echesa updates:

On August 12, I received a call from an area manager at UNB. He explained to me that he had been informed about my complaint and gave me a chance to explain what happened. He apologised and told me that they have unblocked my account. They also released the funds to me. As a gesture of good customer service, he sent a gift (Samsung Tab 3) to me.

Thank you Gulf News, for the intervention.

I am so relieved and happy with this outcome. Hopefully, no one else will go through such an experience.
