Irrfan Khan, who plays Tabu’s dead husband in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Haider, says it is the best performance of the star’s career.

The Maachis actress plays a mother in the modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s tragedy, Hamlet.

“Tabu has brought in a modern day mother India in @Haidermovie with mystery. One of the best performance of her career [sic],” Khan tweeted.

Khan also heaped praise on Bhardwaj for adapting the script beautifully.

“Vishal’s Hamlet is not as confused as Shakespeare’s. He is rather wounded emotionally and physically. He carries the suffering of whole generation,” he said.

“Vishal’s has come up with his third adaptation of Shakespeare with master stroke. Kashmir has never been shown from inside the way he has.”

Bhardwaj has also adpated Shakespeare’s Macbeth (Maqbool) and Othello (Omkara).

Haider also stars Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Kay Kay Menon. It is hitting cinemas next month.
